Im Winter wird Norwegen zum schneebedeckten Paradies. Die verschneite Landschaft ist die perfekte Kulisse für spannende Aktivitäten – wir Norweger lieben den Schnee! Skifahren hat einen besonderen Platz in der norwegischen Kultur und Geschichte. Wenn sich die Landschaften weiß färben, zieht es Jung und Alt in die Berge zu den zahlreichen Skigebieten mit ihren perfekt präparierten Pisten.
Aber es gibt auch viele lustige Aktivitäten ohne Ski, wie etwa Rodeln, Schneeschuhwandern, Hundeschlittenfahren oder eine Walsafari. Oder vielleicht sind Sie eher für eine ruhige Fjordkreuzfahrt zu begeistern? Dabei genießen Sie einen wundervollen Ausblick auf schneebedeckte Berge, die sich im Wasser spiegeln.
Der Winter ist auch eine gute Zeit, um einige der weltbesten Zugfahrten durch wundervolle Landschaften zu machen. Im November und Dezember können Sie die vielen charmanten Weihnachtsmärkte im ganzen Land besuchen.
Das Nordlicht
Die Winternächte sind in ganz Norwegen lang. Von Mitte November bis Ende Januar blickt die Sonne in Nordnorwegen nur kurz über den Horizont – oder geht gar nicht auf. Es ist meistens jedoch nicht stockfinster, und der Schnee erhellt die Landschaft auf fast magische Weise. An klaren Tagen kann man im Süden der Region mehrere Stunden Tageslicht und einige wunderschöne Sonnenuntergangsfarben genießen, während der Himmel im Norden in ein tiefes Mitternachtsblau gehüllt ist.

Und mit etwas Glück tanzt das magische Nordlicht über den Nachthimmel! Dieses ist vor allem im hohen Norden beheimatet, kann aber manchmal in ganz Norwegen gesichtet werden. Von Oktober bis März sind die besten Monate, um diese atemberaubende Lichtshow zu erleben.
In Südnorwegen können Sie in den Wintermonaten zwischen sechs und acht Stunden Tageslicht erwarten.

Winterklima
Das Klima in diesem langen Land ist von Region zu Region sehr unterschiedlich. An der Küste liegen die Temperaturen im Winter normalerweise rund um den Gefrierpunkt. Im Landesinneren sind die Temperaturen für gewöhnlich niedriger und können minus 10 bis minus 20 Grad erreichen. An einigen Orten können Sie sogar minus 40 Grad Kälte erleben!
So kleiden Sie sich für das Winterwetter
Die Winter in Norwegen können sehr kalt sein, obwohl sie gelegentlich auch mild sind. Die richtige Kleidung für Aktivitäten im Freien hängt davon ab, wie und wo Sie Ihren Urlaub verbringen.
Ziehen Sie sich jedenfalls warm und in Schichten an. Besser als Baumwolle oder Polyester eignet sich Wolle gegen die Kälte. Schützen Sie sich außerdem vor Nässe und Wind. Vor allem in Küstengebieten, wo es häufig Niederschläge gibt, ist eine wind- und wasserdichte Jacke unerlässlich. Bei Unternehmungen mit weniger Bewegung halten Sie sich am besten mit einer dicken Daunenjacke und einer Skihose in Kombination mit Thermounterwäsche warm.

Denken Sie auch daran, nicht nur auf das Thermometer zu vertrauen: Durch den Windchill-Faktor kann es sich viel kälter anfühlen. Dieser Effekt nimmt mit zunehmender Windgeschwindigkeit zu.
Vergessen Sie nicht, dass der Winter die beste Jahreszeit ist, um die edle Kunst des Kos zu erlernen, mit vielen Kerzen und einem warmen, knisternden Kamin. Und Sie sind in der Regel nie weit von einer dampfenden, heißen Sauna entfernt!
Kulinarik in der kalten Jahreszeit
Frische Meeresfrüchte und Fisch schmecken am besten im Winter. Ende Januar beginnt zudem die Skrei-Saison. Der Arktische Kabeljau schwimmt dann zum Laichen von der Barentssee in die etwas wärmeren Gewässer rund um die Inseln der Lofoten und Vesterålen.
Gerichte mit Fisch, Hammel, Schwein oder Wild werden traditionell am Weihnachtsabend serviert und sind in der Vorweihnachtszeit auf den Speisekarten vieler Restaurants zu finden. Sind Sie kulinarisch abenteuerlustig? Dann probieren Sie einige traditionelle norwegische Gerichte wie „Smalahove“ (Schafskopf), „Lutefisk“ (in Lauge eingelegter Kabeljau) und „Pinnekjøtt“ (getrocknete, gesalzene und gedünstete Lammrippen).
