Die Hurtigruten-Schiffe fahren auf der geschichtsträchtigen Postschiffroute schon seit mehr als 130 Jahren von Hafen zu Hafen – entlang einer der schönsten Küsten der Welt!
Ein großer Teil von Nordnorwegen hatte erst nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg richtige Straßen und eine Eisenbahn.
Die Menschen, die in abgelegenen Fischerdörfern lebten, fühlte sich dadurch…
… so richtig abgelegen.
Aber das änderte sich nach dem 2. Juli 1893 als das erste Hurtigruten-Dampfschiff DS Vesteraalen seine Reise von Trondheim nach Hammerfest antrat und dabei in elf Häfen Halt machte.
Im Jahre 1898 wurde die Route in Richtung Süden verlängert, seither ankern die Schiffe auch in der Hansestadt Bergen. Zehn Jahre später wurde Kirkenes nahe der russischen Grenze zum nördlichsten Wendepunkt der Postschiffe.
Sie können zudem mit der Spitzbergen-Linie von Bergen bis nach Spitzbergen reisen oder die neue Nordkap-Linie von Oslo bis zum Nordkap nehmen.
Und nicht nur das! Seit 2023 können Sie mit der MS Otto Sverdrup von Hamburg aus entlang der norwegischen Küste bis nach Skarsvåg ans Nordkap und wieder retour reisen! Das Schiff wurde 2020 renoviert, an Bord wird auch Deutsch gesprochen.
Im Laufe der Jahre hat sich Hurtigruten zu einem festen Bestandteil der norwegischen Kultur entwickelt. Die Sängerin und Songwriterin Kari Bremnes widmete ihr das Lied „Hurtigrute“.

2021 öffnet eine neue Sehenswürdigkeit ihre Pforten: Im Hurtigruten Museum (Teil des Museums Nord) erfahren Sie alles über den Küstenexpress.
In den Salons und Kajüten des 1956 erbauten Hurtigruten-Schiffes MS Finnmarken erleben Sie Geschichte hautnah.
Der Alltag an Bord der Schiffe ist bis heute sehr präsent.
Sie bringen weiterhin Einheimische zu Familientreffen, Oma zum Arzt und Kinder zu Fußballturnieren ...

Der Küstenexpress gilt nämlich auch als die umweltfreundlichste Kreuzfahrt der Welt.
