Wenn Sie beim Angeln in Nordnorwegen mit Einheimischen sprechen, werden Sie oft diese überraschende Frage hören:
„Haben Sie sich mit gutem Haill vorbereitet?“, gefolgt von einem Kichern.
Der norwegische Begriff Haill hat mit dem deutschen „Petri Heil“ übrigens wenig zu tun, ist aber einfach erklärt: Wer vor dem Angeln Sex hat, wird mehr und größere Fische fangen!
Haill ist ein traditioneller Glaube, der besonders unter den Menschen in Nordnorwegen verbreitet ist. Hört sich merkwürdig an? Kann schon sein. Ist da aber vielleicht sogar etwas dran? Aber sicher!
Dr. Torunn Christiansen, Fachärztin für Allgemeinmedizin im Krankenhaus Nordlandsykehuset, hat sich lange gefragt, warum die Menschen im Norden auch heute noch daran glauben.
Ein Extrakick
Sie nährte sich dem Mythos mit einer theoretischen Hypothese an, die durchaus Sinn ergeben könnte:
„Dopamin ist ein Teil des Belohnungssystems unseres Körpers und wird durch Handlungen freigesetzt – beispielsweise wenn wir jagen oder sexuell befriedigt sind. Ich finde es interessant, wie Haill Lebensunterhalt und Sex verbindet“, sagt Christiansen.
„Nach dem Sex funktioniert Ihr kognitives System besser – man kann mit Ihnen leichter kooperieren und Sie treffen eher bessere Entscheidungen. Daher ist es nicht unwahrscheinlich, dass Sex auch Ihr Anglerglück fördert“, erklärt Christiansen.
Ganz zu schweigen davon, dass es auch die Beziehung zu Ihrem Partner verbessern könnte.

Die Bedeutung von gutem Haill
Haill war früher eine ernstere Sache. Bis in die 1930er Jahre wurde Haill speziell für den Fang von Heilbutt verwendet, einem exklusiven Fisch, der mehr als zweihundert Kilo wiegen konnte. Mit Heilbutt, auch „König der Meere“ genannt, konnte man den Lebensunterhalt verdienen und die Familie ernähren – mehr als mit jedem anderen Fisch.
Das Fischen von Heilbutt war jedoch gefährlich, schlechtes Wetter und raue Arbeitsbedingungen gehörten dazu.
„Haill spiegelt die Beziehung zwischen dem Fischer und seiner Frau wider. Der Begriff wurde privat verwendet, nicht in der Öffentlichkeit. Laut einem Sprichwort bekommt man das Glück oder Haill von der geliebten Person. Man musste die richtige Partnerin wählen, die genug Anglerglück bescherte und so den Haushalt rettete – denn die Frau galt als Hüterin des Haills“, erklärt die Volkskundlerin Marit Anne Hauan.
Heutzutage sind wir nicht mehr auf den Fang von Heilbutt angewiesen, um ein gutes Leben zu führen. Der Begriff Haill hat eine eher humorvolle Bedeutung. Die Menschen in Nordnorwegen wünschen einander immer noch „Godt Haill“ (Guten Haill) für den Angelausflug.
Heilbutt wird heute selten gefangen, Kabeljau ist nun die Lebensgrundlage der meisten Fischer in Nordnorwegen. Jedes Jahr schwimmt der Kabeljau zum Laichen von der Barentssee an die Nordküste. Diese Delikatesse heißt Skrei und ist heute der Fisch, der am häufigsten mit Haill in Verbindung gebracht wird. Ein Skrei-Abenteuer ist ein Muss bei einem Besuch im hohen Norden!
