Go kayaking in the crystal-clear winter sea. Our winter trips start in Svolvær harbour, and are suitable for those with no prior experience as well. We offer kayaking in calm waters with good stories from Svolvær’s rich cultural history.
When you embark in a sea kayak you practically sit on the surface of the sea and can navigate it using your own bodily strength. The combination of silence, raw nature on all sides, and full freedom of motion, makes sea kayaking one of our most popular adventures. We use stable double kayaks on our trips, and all necessary equipment is included.
Our guide welcomes you at our base in Svolvær harbour, and gives you the necessary instructions and adjusts the equipment for the trip.
No prior qualifications are necessary, but winter padling could be demanding. We recommend this trip for those with good health, and those who have an active lifestyle. Winter padling is not recommended if you struggle with heart problems or reduced mobility. We use dry suits on our winter trips. We recommend wool layers for your best comfort.
Winter kayaking is only offered to adults. Other timings and group outings can be arranged on request.
We use dry suits and life vests on our winter trips.
Min pax: 2
Max pax: 10
Other timings and group outings can be arranged on request.
Recommendations to get the most out of the experience
The weather in Lofoten changes a lot from day to day, which is some of the charm of these isles. You should dress to suit the weather, and our recommendation is to wear wool underwear. It wicks moist away from your body, and you will not get cold even if you sweat or become wet. Since you are in motion throughout the trip, we have no further recommendations on what to wear, but it is a good idea to bring a change of clothing. Bring a water bottle too. We always must respect the weather on our trips, which could involve cancellation or postponement. We do our utmost to devise an alternative trip for you, if possible.
This is included:
• Dry suit
• Experienced kayak guide
• Splash cover, paddle, and life vest
• Kayak
