Text from the organiser:
David Urwitz has sometimes been described as Scandinavia’s best-kept secret. In certain circles, he is almost an institution; in others, he remains completely unknown.
David made his debut in 2005 with the album Det var vel ikke mer med det. The album received top marks from Göteborgs-Posten and attracted attention in both Norway and Sweden. In the years since, David has consistently released albums and toured extensively. In Norway, he enjoyed major success with the duet Hos meg (together with Helene Bøksle). In Sweden, David has collaborated and toured with artists including Peter LeMarc, Caroline af Ugglas and Eldkvarn. During 2025, Urwitz released a new album – the ninth of his career.
A curious fact is that David holds the record for the most songs to have challenged for a place on Svensktoppen without actually making it onto the chart. So far, he has accumulated fifteen “bubblers”.
David will perform with his band:
Julia Falthin – bass
Stina Sahlin – drums
Pär Öjerot – guitar
ABOUT BYSOMMER:
Few artists have captured Oslo as precisely as Lillebjørn Nilsen. Through a long artistic career, poetry and folk songs, he gave us a profound insight into the soul of the city. For many years, Lillebjørn and his collaborator Helge Westbye invited audiences to “Bysommer”, a concert held during Norway’s main summer holiday period. We are now continuing that legacy with the Bysommer concert series, where artists who, like Lillebjørn, love Oslo bring positive energy to the city’s laid-back summer atmosphere.
Bysommer takes place at venues including SALT Art & Music from June to August. Read more at bysommer.no.
