Adama Janlo – A Vocal Powerhouse
Adama Janlo commands the stage from the very first second – whether performing an intimate concert or a full-scale production with a band. With infectious energy, a compelling stage presence, and a delivery that balances intensity and vulnerability, she creates concert experiences that linger long after the final note.
In spring 2026, she won the European Blues Challenge in Poland, representing Norway – an achievement that has further strengthened her position within the European soul and blues scene.
She is currently promoting her debut album, A Free Woman, which has received outstanding reviews both in Norway and internationally. Blues Matters writes:
“A powerful debut ... Janlo is a singular voice, unafraid to claim her space.”
Gaffa describes her as “a hidden gem with international potential”, while Bluesnews states: “Adama could very well become Norway’s next great singing star.”
Dagsavisen describes her as one of Norway’s most exciting artists, and Rolf E. Wullf calls her “the most powerful and energetic soul voice this writer has ever experienced”.
Janlo has impressed audiences at festivals such as Notodden Blues Festival and Baltic Blues Festival in Germany, and her sold-out album launch concert in Oslo confirmed a rare ability to captivate audiences. She has also served as a jury member for the Spellemann Awards, sold out her first solo show, and attracted growing international attention.
In spring 2026, she represented Norway at the European Blues Challenge in Poland – a clear sign of her rising profile within the European soul and blues community.
ABOUT BYSOMMER:
Few artists have captured Oslo as precisely as Lillebjørn Nilsen. Through a long artistic career, poetry and folk songs, he gave us a profound insight into the soul of the city. For many years, Lillebjørn and his collaborator Helge Westbye invited audiences to “Bysommer”, a concert held during Norway’s main summer holiday period. We are now continuing that legacy with the Bysommer concert series, where artists who, like Lillebjørn, love Oslo bring positive energy to the city’s laid-back summer atmosphere.
Bysommer takes place at venues including SALT Art & Music from June to August. Read more at bysommer.no.
Age limit: 20+ years.
