Trytetjern, a summer favourite in Hallingdal

Swim, bike and hike. Walk the beautiful footpath around the water or try the bike trails in the forest by the lake. Trytetjern is the locals favorite swimming water.
In recent years, the area around the idyllic forest water area has been renovated for many millions and was named Trytetjern Friluftsport. Trytetjern is located approx. 10 minutes drive from Nesbyen city center. Here are some of what you find at Trytetjern:
Swimming area and sand volleyball court
At the north end of the water you will find sand volleyball court, changing rooms, sandy beach, jetty and a popular water trampoline. Live water temperature and more information can be found under the pool side swimming in Nesbyen.
Trail biking by Trytetjern
Close to the swimming area, there are three bike paths in different degrees of difficulty: Trytetrøkket (easy), Blåbærtrøkket (medium) and Tyttebærtrøkket (demanding). Check out the trails on Trailguide.net or read more about mountain biking in Nesbyen.
Playground and Zipline
At the swimming area by Trytetjern, you’ll find a playground suitable for both younger and older children. There are climbing frames and balance trails. And in the forest behind the swimming area at Trytetjern, there is a short but fun zipline.
Walking and cycling path around the water
There is a universally designed and idyllic walking path around Trytetjern that is just as good for you with sneakers as you with a stroller or wheelchair. The hiking trail goes past the forest shelter, the bathing area and the start of the "Trytetrøkket" cycle path.
Shelter
At the southern end of the lake, you'll find a great shelter. It's a perfect spot to take a break while walking around the lake — or maybe even prepare your dinner over the fire pit.
Fishing
If you want to fish in Trytetjern, remember to buy a fishing permit. There is a boat by the lake that you can rent (NOK 20) for fishing or simply to enjoy a rowing trip (payment via Vipps).
Foot and bike paths from Utsikten
A few hundred meters west of Trytetjern you will find a great viewpoint. Here, a dozen more or less steep bike trails start down towards Nesbyen. Read more about these on the page about mountain biking in Nesbyen. The view is also the starting point for several fine footpaths, e.g. the trip up to Klevarudnatten.
