«Mjølkevegen Vinstra – Gol»

The bikeroute “Mjølkevegen” goes from Vinstra into the majestic Jotunheimen where you easily can combine both biking and hiking.

The route continues in one of the largest mountain farm areas in Norway, here you will meet grazing animals and enjoy the family friendly terrain.

In Valdres the route goes on trough beautiful farm areas. The view is stunning, and there are great possibilities for fishing as well as bathing in the lakes and rivers.

This bike route is well suited for families due to the relatively easy terrain and the moderate traffic. There are three hard climbs at the route; all of them can easily be eliminated with a taxi- /bus ride. Contact the tourist info in Fagernes or Vinstra for more information.

Along the route it’s not the best possibilities for provisions, but you will find plenty of hotels, mountain lodges and rental cabins. The capacity might be a problem, so it is a good choice to book in advance. Outdoor camping is also a great alternative in the beautiful nature along the route.

The route: Vinstra, Skåbu, Jotunheimvegen, Bygdin, Tyin, Tyinkrysset, Vangsmjøsa, Syndin, Vaset, Gol.

Terrain: The terrain along the route is fairly easy, at least to be in a mountain area. As already described, there are some hard climbs.

Highlights along the route: Jotunheimen and Valdres offer you some of the most beautiful mountain areas in Norway. The stunning view, the grazing animals and a Boat trip at Bitihorn.

Accomandation: All types of accomandation. Mountain lodges, farms, hotels and cabins. Remember to book in advance.

Road conditions and traffic: Asphalt to Slangen seter and gravel til Bygdin. At Jotunheimveien there is dry and hard road. From Eidsbugarden to Tyin there is gravel. From Tyin to Vang it is asphalt.

If you go by “Gamle Kongevei” from Tyinkrysset to Øye, the surface is changes between grass, gravel and tractor roads. The last part of the route to Gol is mostly nice roads with both gravel and asphalt. A bit traffic at E16 and RV51, except from that there are almost no traffic along the route.
