Vestkapp is the westernmost mountain plateau on mainland Norway. From Kjerringa, 496 metres above the Stadhavet sea, enjoy spectacular views of the Norwegian coastline.

The mountain plateau is almost flat at the top and drops steeply into the sea. The area is known for its highly changeable and extreme weather, ranging from mirror-calm waters to storms and hurricanes, and the sea route around Stad is considered one of the most weather-exposed and treacherous waters in Norway.

Hiking on Stadhalvøya is a truly unique experience – here you are high in the mountains while having the open ocean stretching out right in front of you.

In 2026, construction work is taking place at the top of Vestkapp, so there are no toilet facilities or café available this season. A new restaurant and landscape area are under construction and are scheduled for completion in 2027.
