Vitenfabrikken

Discover this popular science museum in Sandnes. There are four levels of exhibitions and activities. Topics are natural science, mathematics, energy and astronomy, regional industrial history and Sandnes' city history.

At Vitenfabrikken, the exhibitions are interactive, you are invited to see and touch and have fun while you discover! After a visit here, you would be able to tell how warm your brain is, how fast you react, how strong the spider web is and much more! You can, among other things, challenge friends and family to a wheelchair race, or see who responds the fastest in the reaction wall.
A must-do at Vitenfabrikken is to visit the top modern Planetarium and find out more about space and the universe. Vitenfabrikken also has a Tesla-Coil, where you can try and catch arches with 750.000-volt strength. The younger children like to run the harbour and control the crane. In the exhibitions about Sandnes, you can discover more about well-known brands such as Figgjo (porcelain) and DBS (bicycles).
During weekends and school holidays, there is an extended activity programme with science shows, workshops and showings in the Planetarium.
Vitenfabrikken has a café and a museum shop. Vitenfabrikken is part of Jærmuseet, a regional museum.
