Turtagrø and Hurrungane is known as the mountaineering cradle in Norway since the pioneers started climbing in these mountains in the 1870s.
Turtagrø is today a meeting point for mountain people who uses the area to do activities like walking, skiing and climbing.
The hotel opened in 1888, but in 2001 it burned in a fire. A new hotel was designed by Jarmund Vigsnæs and finished in 2002. From the hotel you have a view of the spectacular peaks in Hurrungane such as the Skagastølstindene. You can get a mountain guide to take you to the peaks in the area, find perfect snow or spectacular hikes. Contact Norgesguidene at www.Norgesguidene.no.
The hotel opens for Easter and are open until primo September.
