This tour is conducted by Elements Arctic Camp. This is a unique, private and personalized trip!
From our remote camp, located at the seashore on the Island Rebbenesøya, north of Tromsø, with no road access and no electricity you will experience a spectacular Arctic coastal nature. Experience winter kayaking, hiking and sightseeing and if there is snow, try also snowshoeing and skiing.
This is the place to experience - calmness, silence, a lot of weather, and the different colors and peculiarities of the seasons. At the Camp you will be surrounded by the natural sound of nature and with no light pollution it is the perfect place for star gazing and experiencing the magical Northern Lights. The Camp is near a landscape with several nature reserves and a rich wildlife. You will get close to nature and learn about Arctic animals and coastal life. In the area there are also many cultural monuments including Sami ones. In this trip everything is included, and you will have the Camp for yourself and stay in a cozy and warm yurt with made-up and comfortable beds.
Winter time can offer all kinds of weather and change quickly, so we plan the activities accordinlgy, and depending on your kayaking experience and your wishes. The area offers fantastic possibilities both on land and at sea. You will be able to do kayaking both evening and daytime. To paddle in the dark is a special experience, and if you are lucky you might see the Northern Lights while kayaking. The sea water is crystal clear and we will paddle around islets, sheaves and along beautiful islands. It is common to experience sea eagles, otters, seals and various sea birds. We will do a sightseeing trip on the island combined with a hike or a walk. The island offers fantastic views. If there is snow, you will also be able to try snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
The trip to the Camp is an experience in itself, with a 90 minute scenic drive from Tromsø city, along fjords and over a mountain range, a 10 minutes ferry ride and 20-30-minute walk or snowshoeing to the camp.
In the corresponding boat house we have a bio toilet. The yurt must be heated on arrival and we fetch water from a stream nearby. We provide local food and all the hot meals are prepared together by you and the guide. We will pick you up in Tromsø city centre or surroundings by appointment.
