The nature surrounding Tafjord is wild, beautiful and breathtaking with mountains up from the fjord. The mountains are a great benefit for the electricity production. Today a vast area of the Tafjord mountains have been developed with a total of 7 powerplants that covers a catchment of about 388 square kilometers. 80% of this is situated over 1000 meters above sea level.
Tafjord Kraftproduksjon AS was established in 1917 and the first power station in Tafjord was completed in 1923, this same power station was in use until 1989 and therefore houses a lot of history .
