The Lofoten Islands is situated right under the Northern Lights oval, which means there are good chances to catch glimpses of the lady Aurora when here. The northern light can only be observed when its dark and the sky is clear. If there are clouds, we will do our best to search for a location with an open sky. The main season for the northern light starts in September and ends in April.
Our trips mainly take you to the northern parts of the island where there are better chances to see it and the light pollution is minimal. We will do our best to find the best place to see the northern light, considering weather conditions.
This trip is suiteable for all ages, with an interest and fascination for the Northern light. During the trip you will also learn more about the everyday life of people living in Lofoten.
To get a good photo of the northern light can be a little bit complicated if you are not familiar with your camera. Our guide will be able to assist you and give you some hints of shutter speed, ISO and aperture.
It is not possible to guarantee the Northern Lights, but we do guarantee that we will do our very best to find it. In case of bad weather conditions, the tour might be cancelled. If so, you will get a full refund of the amount paid.
Meet up 15 minutes beforehand at our headquarter in Svolvær, where the tour starts. Pick up at your hotel can be arranged in Svolvær. The duration of the trip is approx 3,5-6 hours, depending on weather conditions. Transport back to your hotel is included, within Svolvær.

What to wear and bring?
The weather in Lofoten chances rapidly, and during winter we advise you to bring warm clothes, just the same as you will see locals are wearing: Wool underwear
Fleece or wool sweather
Warm jacket and trousers that isolates
Scarf, gloves, hat, warm and isolated shoes
A tripod is recommended for the camera.
