Skarsvåg
North Cape Safari
Experience our North Cape Safari by boat, visiting historical and geographical highlights. Catch the King Crab and enjoy it the local way, with tastes of the Arctic. See the North Cape, visit Hornvika and Knivskjellodden, and get up close to local life through your host. This is a unique way to explore the Arctic. This safari is adjusted to most cruise ship arrivals.
We begin our safari in the northernmost fishing village in the world, Skarsvåg. We prepare our journey with information and safety precautions before we embark onto the open ocean. We travel along fjords and rugged arctic scenery, passing wildlife and birds as we go along.
From sea we visit Kirkeporten, a famous land mark overlooking the North Cape. We also make a stop in Hornvika, the original pathway to the North Cape, followed by an historical introduction. Next we pass the spectacular North Cape cliff, offering majestic views and photo opportunities.
We continue our journey to Knivskjellodden, located north of Norway, a landmark positioned further north than the North Cape. Here we turn and begin our quest for fish and King Crabs. We will be fishing for Cod, Atlantic Pollock and perhaps even Halibut, before searching out our King Crab pots. The King Crabs are pulled from the deep and will be brought to shore.
At our camp we prepare and serve our catch. The meal will be served in the local way, with tastes from the Arctic.
The tour is operated by a local fisher and storyteller, where safety and quality is the main priority.
