Lofoten: Local Food Tour from Hamnøy

Lofoten has much more to offer on the food scene than just stockfish and lamb! If you want to experience a side of Lofoten that you have never seen before, join this Local Food Tour from Hamnøy that focuses on ecotourism and sustainable gastronomy and celebrates seasonal ingredients and culinary traditions.

The tour starts from Pukka's basecamp in Hamnøy. Then, it takes you on a scenic drive in a comfortable minibus to the vegetable garden "Polarhagen," run by a young couple, Parsa and Lisa. They follow traditional gardening techniques and the rhythm of nature while cultivating their land without the use of heavy machinery. Here, you can explore their garden, and Parsa and Lisa will give you an insight into running agriculture in a climate-friendly and regenerative way. In addition, Parsa is a master at making delicious home meals from the farm products that you will get to taste.

After lunch, we will continue to Uttakleiv and Haukland beaches, where you will enjoy a peaceful coffee break with a view of the ocean.

The next stop will be at a Lofoten Gårdsysteri cheese farm run by Marielle and Hugo. The farm is situated in beautiful Mærvoll on the outer rim of the Lofotens, where the green mountains offer ideal grazing possibilities for the goats. You will taste organic white goat cheese produced from fresh milk flavored with local herbs, flowers, and seaweed.

The last stop will be in a small fishing village Napp where two friends named Angelita and Tamara harvest seaweed in a sustainable way. Their company, Lofoten Seaweed, was built on dedicated hard work and passion for the environment, sustainability, and a healthy ocean. You will learn about harvesting seaweed, its health benefits, and how to incorporate it into your daily meals.

During this tour, there is a high focus on local food tasting, immersing you in the local life at the 68 degrees latitude.
