Honningsvåg

From sea to shore, the wondrous world of the king crab

Meeting the local wildlife isn’t as easy as one might think, knowing that many of them live far beneath the surface of the sea. Join us for a king crab safari by RIB boat and follow the journey of the king crab from the Barents Sea all to way to your plate.

As our all-time bestseller, this tour offers you great value for money! The Norwegian red king crab is one of the most important export products of the North Cape municipality and with this excursion you will be able to learn all about the history, life, anatomy and industry of this fascinating creature.

Starting at our adventure centre in Honningsvåg, you will be provided with a flotation suit and lifejacket before boarding our state-of-the-art RIB boats. With their 2x300HP engines, we guarantee you a thrilling ride before picking up the crab pot. We will check our catch of the day and take as many crabs as needed, before heading over to our scenic fjord location in Sarnes.
Here, your guide will explain you all about the anatomy and life of the crab before boiling them in sea water. While the crab is cooking, your guide will tell you more about the history of this impressive crustacean and its invasion of the North-Norwegian coastline.
To end our program, you will enjoy a delicious meal of king crab, served in the traditional Norwegian way with bread, mayonnaise and lemon.

While you finish your last crab leg, your driver will prepare the boat to safely take you back to Honningsvåg.
