Ski along the trails through the magical winter landscapes of Northern Norway.
This tour is operated by Destination Tromsø.
Cross-country skiing is Norway’s national sport and a popular activity among many Norwegians. You may have heard the saying that “Norwegians are born with skis on their feet” – and cross-country skiing is an important part of Norwegian culture and history. For many, skiing is all about freedom, fresh air and the joy of being outdoors in nature.
The tour starts in Tromsø city centre, where we pick you up by bus and take you to our camp at Breivikeidet. The bus ride takes approximately 50 minutes.
The camp is beautifully located by the sea, with the majestic Lyngen Alps as a backdrop. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our friendly staff. You will receive a thermal suit, boots, hat, mittens and all necessary ski equipment, including skis and poles.
Cross-country skiing is an activity that many people can enjoy, regardless of age and skill level. Before the tour starts, your guide will teach you the basic skills: how to get started, how to put on your skis, how to fall safely and how to get back up again.
After the introduction, you head out on a ski trip through the beautiful Arctic landscape together with your guide. The tour is adapted to the group’s pace and experience, giving you time to enjoy a calm and scenic ski trip in the winter surroundings.
After the tour, hot drinks and cake are served in the lavvu. Once you have had time to relax and warm up, you return to Tromsø by bus.
As an extra bonus, the camp is also the starting point for our dog sledding tours. This means you will find a group of four-legged friends in the dog yard at the camp. Our Alaskan huskies love to play and meet new people, so you are welcome to say hello and give them a cuddle or two.
