Hiking to Mount Keipen This tour starts with a drive to Mt. Aune approximately 8 km northwest of Harstad. Disembark the coach and start the hike towards Keipen on the top of Mt. Aune – 490 meters above sea level. The trail to the top is good with some rolling birch ground – a little marshy at the start. The trail rises at an angle to the top, to find a place to light a fire at the idyllic Lake Keipen. The trail continues on the right hand path of the lake and up to the next plateau, to find a steep escarpment descending into the sea. Fantastic views to the west! At the top enjoy coffee and lefse (Norwegian pastries) with cured meat by an open fire. After a well deserved break return on the same trail back to the coach for a short drive back to the pier.
