A fully equipped cabin located in the highlands. Both the mountain ridge Hallingskavet and the glacier Hardangergjøkulen are within reach for a day trip. Just off the popular cyclist road Rallarvegen, the property is a perfect base for skiers, hikers and cyclists. The cabin has two apartments that may be rented separately or together. Drop in is available in summer (July/August), and the rest of the year weekend/weekly rental will apply.

The cabin was built shortly after the opening of the Bergen railway line, and served as a permanent residence for railway employees and their families. When the railway company no longer had use for the the house, it was sold and after some renovation work it has been used as a rental cabin. The cottage has two apartments that are rented separately or together. In summer it is possible to rent the smaller apartment on a drop in basis, and the rest of the year weekend/weekly rental will apply. The cabin has electricity, running water and a WC.
The apartments
The western apartment includes a living room with fireplace, kitchen, bathroom/WC and two bedrooms (sleeps 7-10). The eastern apartment is a little smaller and a little more sparsely equipped than the western, but has about the same number of beds. Both apartments have fully equipped kitchens with stove refrigerator, coffee maker, waffle iron and microwave. The western apartment is slightly better equipped than the eastern one.
Location
The cottage is located about 7 km to the south-east of Finse, between the national parks Hardangerjøkulen and Hallingskarvet. Just off the popular cyclist road Rallarvegen, the property is a perfect base for skiers, hikers and cyclists. This isthe perfect place for those who want easy access to the highlands and yet keep a distance to the crowds. Both the mountain ridge Hallingskarvet and the glacier Hardangergjøkulen, are within reach for a day trip. For the fishing enthusiasts, it is recommended to take a hike up the hills to some of the smaller lakes.
Bicycle
In summer you may rent bicycles at the lodge. The bikes are designed for dirt roads and built to withstand the stress of a trip on Rallarvegen.
Pricing
Prices vary slightly by season and number of guests, but the 2013 prices start at NOK 3750 (approximately EUR 500) for weekly rental in the western apartment. During the winter school holiday and in summer (July/August), the rates are slightly higher. Easter is peak season with significantly higher rates.
