Coastal history, guided tours and super nice hiking oportunities. Set aside time for a rich experience in the old trading village Finnkroken.
This tour is conducted by Hermes II. The trip is ideal for those who love history, are curious about what life was like here in earlier times, or those who simply want to enjoy a longer boat trip.
On board Hermes II, this beautiful wooden vessel from 1917, it feels like travelling back in time. And in a way we really do. Finnkroken has been a registered trading post for more than 200 years, and the Reinøy island has been inhabited for almost 10.000 years.
We start out from Tromsø with a two hours sailing in beautiful scenery. On the way you may explore the old boat as much as you want, and lears about Hermes II’s exiting history. When we arrive in Finnkroken local hosts will guide you through the village and invite you to visit The Armauer House from 1802, the church, the museum, the Einar Berger (local painter) exhibition and much more.
And if you prefer; feel free to walk around on your own between old buildings, on the quay or into the nearby woods and hills. Reinøy has lots of nice hiking trails that are easily accessable.
The Quay-café is open for light service and has some local produce for sale.
Included: guiding, hot drinks and a fish cake
Please bring: clothing according to weather conditions. Remember that it is always a bit colder out on the sea
Departure time and place: 10am (10:00) from The floating pier at Stortorget (meet 10 minutes before departure)
Duration: 6,5 hours
Level of difficulty: easy
Number of participants: 2-35
Explore Finnkroken: Saturday 5 August & 2 September at 10:00
Christmas Market: Saturday 2 December at 10:00
Please note: The tour might be cancelled or rescheduled due to harsh weather conditions.
