Skien Fritidspark is an ideal starting point for both winter and summer excursions, perfect for residents of Skien and visitors to Telemark. The area offers well-groomed ski trails and varied hiking paths in beautiful natural surroundings.

Ski Trails and Floodlit Tracks at Fritidsparken

The ski trails run along wide, pleasant routes in the forest around the Fritidsparken, making them perfect for anything from a short ski trip to a demanding training session.

Available Ski Trails

All trails are floodlit (lysløyper), enabling evening skiing:

  • 1 km loop trail
  • 2.5 km loop trail
  • 5 km loop trail

Practical Information

  • Lighting: The lights turn on at dusk and remain lit until 10:00 PM every evening.
  • Grooming: The trails are groomed by the Park Services approximately twice a week, or as needed.

  • Trail Profiles: Profiles for the 1 km, 2.5 km, and 5 km trails are available for planning.

Popular Hiking Destinations

Trollets Hjerte (The Troll's Heart): A family-friendly hiking destination that is adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Hvitsteintjenn and Piggen: The Telemark Tourist Association (TTF) has blue-marked trails leading to these popular destinations.

Adapted Rest Areas

Skien Fritidspark has established 4 adapted rest areas along the floodlit trail. This is a collaboration with DNB Nord and FFO Telemark, and the areas are specifically designed for disabled persons.

How to Get Here by Bus

Take bus M3 to the stop "Skien fritidspark".
From the stop, follow Gamle Bjørntvedtveg towards Hotell fritidsparken and continue to Skien ice rink.
