Exceptional Nature Experiences and Luxurious Back-to-Nature

The treetop igloo in beautiful Lårdal, Telemark, is secluded, high up in a forest clearing at the top of the valley. Here you float and live high while your soul finds peace, surrounded by steep, proud hills and resting water that is reminiscent of Western Norway's dramatic scenery.

Highlights of your stay:

  • Private swimming: Take a refreshing dip in the private swimming spot in the river.
  • Outdoor shower (seasonal): Enjoy a sensory experience with our outdoor shower (open from May through September).
  • Wildlife spotting: Just a stone's throw away is Støylsdalen, a gravel road world-famous for its abundance of deer, moose, and roe deer. A short walk at dusk can easily lead to an extraordinary close encounter.
  • Hiking: You can walk directly from the igloo to the spectacular Lårdalsstigen trail or the "Kapteinsrenna-rundturen" for majestic views.
  • Relaxation: If you prefer a more leisurely pace, a beautiful sauna is located right by the water's edge, just a 5-minute drive away.

This is a unique back-to-nature experience where you get the luxury of a hotel room, combined with complete tranquility and proximity to the raw, Norwegian landscape. Take a well-deserved break from everyday life, connect with your travel companion, or simply enjoy the nature that surrounds you.

Practical Information about the Treetop Igloo

The treetop igloo offers sustainable accommodation with a minimal footprint. This is a conscious choice to maximize the impression on the soul.

  • No running water/electricity: A five-liter container of drinking water is available upon arrival. Lighting consists of rechargeable lamps and candlelight – and you heat with wood.
  • Heating: The wood-burning stove is your heat source, with unlimited firewood available. The stove will keep you warm even down to -15 degrees Celsius, provided you maintain the fire well. If the winter night is cold, we recommend having a fire watch to add wood during the night.
  • Cooking: A small camping stove (gas is included) is available for cooking (all cooking must take place outdoors due to fire hazard). There is also a small hotplate on the wood stove and some small pots available in the igloo. During months where it is permitted, all locations have a fire pit. We recommend preparing some meals at home beforehand.
  • Toilet: A charming outhouse stands a short distance from the igloo itself.
