Hylja Lodge is a retreat for those seeking stillness, authenticity and time to simply be — high in the Norwegian mountains.

Hylja Lodge opens to guests in the summer of 2026, hidden between two mountain realms — Rondane to the east and Jotunheimen to the west. Situated nearly 1,000 metres above sea level on a historic family mountain pasture above Lalm in Gudbrandsdalen, Hylja is a place of silence, presence and living traditions. Guests stay in exclusive, architect-designed shepherd huts, discreetly placed in the landscape and clad in slate and natural materials. With only a few units and generous distance between them, privacy, tranquillity and closeness to nature are central. Inside, raw exteriors meet soft comfort, with natural textures and muted colours drawn from moss, earth and forest. At the heart of the lodge is the seter kitchen, where all meals are prepared on site using mainly local ingredients. The menu follows the seasons and reflects traditional mountain cooking — simple, generous dishes made from scratch, with care and restraint. Hylja invites guests to slow down. A sauna and hot tub overlook the surrounding mountain ranges and are available to both overnight and day guests, always in calm, intimate settings. The contrast between warm wood and crisp mountain air is an essential part of the experience, in every season. Among the experiences offered is a guided alpaca walk through the historic mountain pasture landscape. Moving at a gentle pace along old paths and open grazing land, guests are invited to connect — with the animals, the land and the quiet rhythm of the mountains. Hylja Lodge is a retreat for those seeking stillness, authenticity and time to simply be — high in the Norwegian mountains.
