Aukrust gard og urteri - farm shop, herb garden, exhibition, and dining.
Aukrust Gard og Urteri is located on Solsida in Bøverdalen, at the foot of Lomseggen (2,068 m a.s.l.), about 5 km from Lom sentrum. The farm has been run biodynamically since 1986. Here you’ll find herb gardens with 200 different herbs, a farm shop, catering by appointment, and events in the “Hågå-huset.” Cows, pigs, hens, and cats can be found around the farmyard. The poet Olav Aukrust grew up here—with Flåklypa as a neighbor!
“Nordic Provence”:
Here you’ll arrive at sun-browned log houses in the “Nordic Provence,” in an agricultural culture where the Lord Himself provides the sun, and we must provide the water for the crops in the fields. In other words, a climate well suited to flowers and herbs, which you’ll find in the wild herb garden. Sunny days and a dry climate give the plants strength and aroma. Nordgard Aukrust has the country’s largest selection of organic tea and spices, based on what they grow themselves. You can wander on your own at any time with a written guide to the most common species. If you’d like a guided tour, get in touch to arrange a time.
At the farm, they have worked for a full 25 years with herb refinement/processing in the farm’s herb workshop. A wide assortment is produced based on homegrown plants. You’ll find this in the farm shop—along with a large herb selection and cured sausages. In addition, the farm shop sells their own vegetables and various organic products.
Biodynamic farming involves diversity—and preferably cows. The cows at Aukrust spend the summer at the mountain pasture (setra) Ulvåt at the very top of Bøverdalen. The farm is run by Franziska and Ola Aukrust, and they get great help from employees and interns throughout the year.
Welcome to the herb paradise!
