The Norwegian Brain Research Foundation and EC Dahls Eiendom invite you to a theme evening about dementia at Pirsenteret. What is it like to be a relative? What happens when someone is diagnosed with dementia? And last but not least, what is happening on the research front – is there hope?
At the event you will meet, among others:
- Marianne Mørck Danielsen, who has more than 15 years of experience as a relative of someone with dementia, and is a self-proclaimed dementia activist.
- Resource center for dementia, which meets newly diagnosed people in Trondheim municipality and helps them plan their future with a dementia diagnosis.
- Asgeir Kobro-Flatmoen and Gøril Rolfseng Grøntvedt, who lead the National Association's Dementia Research Center at the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience, NTNU. With different approaches, they are trying to get closer to a solution to the dementia puzzle.
- The Brain Research Fund, which collects – and allocates – money for brain research. In 2026, we will give NOK 16.1 million to basic research at the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience and NOK 2.5 million to the National Association for Dementia Research Center.
There will be a good opportunity to ask questions to all the speakers.
The event is free (but requires registration) and open to anyone interested in learning more about dementia, whether you are affected yourself, a relative or just want to learn more about the brain and dementia. We will serve coffee and "something else".
PRACTICAL INFO: The event will take place in auditorium A300 at Pirsenteret, which is located at Havnegata 9 (next to Pirbadet). Use entrance 2 to enter the auditorium. Buses 21 and 23 stop right outside the entrance (the bus stop is called Pirbadet), and there are parking options in the Pirbadet P-hus nearby (paid parking).
