Every year Transform asks a local artist who works internationally and across genres to put together his dreamteam of musicians. This year we have Olav Mjelva from Røros as this year's Dreamteam artist; known as an award-winning performer on fiddle and Hardanger fiddle in bands such as SVER, The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc and the duo Rydvall/Mjelva, but also as a composer of game music, festival organizer, cultural ambassador for Norwegian folk music and teacher.
He has collaborated with musicians and artists from several countries and has contributed to building bridges between traditional and modern art practices. The Dreamteam artist scheme gives a selected musician the opportunity to put together their own dream ensemble and develop a unique concert project for the festival. For this concert, Mjelva has invited Alf Hulbækmo on organ, harmonica and several other instruments, Christian Winther on guitars and Sigurd Hole on double bass. Together they explore the meeting between tradition, improvisation and innovation, based on Mjelva's musical universe.
Line up:
- Olav Luksengård Mjelva – fiddle, Hardanger fiddle
- Alf Hulbækmo – church organ, piano, accordion, harmonica
- Christian Winther – guitar
- Sigurd Hole – double bass
