TURN THE EARTH
Snu Jorda is taken from one of the poems in the book "Bibeldikt", where Norwegian authors write in dialogue with biblical texts - with free mandate. A selection of these poems has inspired the creation of new music in a genre-open landscape that combines composition, improvisation and sonic exploration.
Melodies and soundscapes seek to preserve the core and intimacy of the texts, while at the same time giving them resonance and freedom to move, and move us, through open musical spaces with many layers. The concert in Lademoen Church combines church organ, piano, electronics and voice, expanded with guest Eivind Aarset's sound world.
The album Snu Jorda (Øra Fonogram) was recorded in Øra Studio and Sakshaug Church and will be released on September 1st.
Ståle Storløkken is a keyboard magician who is perhaps best known for his high-octane, distorted, free-rock-symphonic Hammond organ escapades in Elephant9 or as a free-improv sound wizard in Supersilent. In the encounter with the church organ, he seeks to explore both the possibilities and limitations of the instrument and searches for the "hidden" sound treasures. Storløkken has released a number of albums with
own projects and compositions, and has been both nominated for and received the Spelemannspris. In 2020 he was awarded Norsk Jazz's highest award, the Buddy Prize.
Tone Åse, voice and electronics, has left her mark on the Norwegian and European jazz landscape through collaborations and releases with a number of constellations, including Marilyn Mazur, Thomas
Strønen, Operadicals, Trondheim Voices, Bol&Snah and Sten Sandell. One of her hallmarks is the combination of the melodic and the sound-creating through the organic use of electronic voice processing.
Eivind Aarset is a guitarist and sound maker who absorbs and reflects all kinds of musical expressions and operates in an organic range from the lyrical to the noisy with a unique personal style.
voice, whether in his own projects or other collaborations. He has been and is an important voice nationally and internationally, together with musicians such as Arild Andersen, Bendik
Hofset, Nils Petter Molvær, Jan Bang and Sidsel Endresen. They
In recent years, in addition to his own projects, Aarset has collaborated with musicians such as nDhafer Youssef, Arve Henriksen, David Sylvian, Jon Hassell and Mats Eilertsen. He has a large production of compositions and releases behind him, and received the Buddy Award in 2021.
