Fliflet/Hamre!
Ole Hamre is on a roll
Gabriel Fliflet owns an accordion, and likes to use it
This is cheerful Balkan music, pure poetry and playfulness on drums, singing, accordion, stepping, pots and melodica!
For years, this duo has provided Western Norway and Norway with their mix of Balkan music, Ivar Åsen, happy madness and of course a little strengthening singing: All this we love!
The veterans in the city from the west, have several critically acclaimed albums under their belt and are currently celebrating their 35th anniversary!
Watch out for the scolding!
To warm us up to this Bergen bulldozer-ball-stable bastion; BalkanFest presents a real treat;
Frits Klatte Band!
Bård Li-PVC
Espen Høyem-PVC
Despite having existed for less than a year, the Fritz Klatte Band has already made a splash within the European traditional music community.
At this summer's edition of the Landskappleiken, they were the first in world history to perform with instruments made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) – colloquially known as plastic.
Hardanger fiddle players dressed in traditional Norwegian costumes and Langeleik players in a hurry were almost blown away by the Fritz Klatte Band's vital performance. And the judges in the Open class awarded the guys no less than 25 points. Since then, things have been going well for the band. They have performed both east and west of Trondheim, even at a birthday party.
The band took its name to honor one of the great pioneers in plastic chemistry. Fritz Klatte (1880-1934) is considered by many to be one of the greats in the history of plastics. Unfortunately, he passed away too early to experience the success that plastic would become. But at Balkanfest, the Fritz Klatte Band will breathe life into his memory – literally.
