Free your body and mind!
Welcome to the very first Ecstatic Dance event at Kunsthall Trondheim on Friday 1 May 2026 at 18-20. Experience a free form movement journey that allows you to discover and express your own dance and to be your true self!
You will be gently guided into the dance where you can explore everything from stillness to ecstatic movements in a safe space alone or in interaction with others. Tune in to yourself and the music of DJ Dag Olav, and connect with the rhythms while moving freely. We start and end the session together with a short guided meditation.
Ecstatic Dance is a conscious dance event and a phone-free zone and alcohol and drug-free place.
Doors open at 17:45 and will be closed by the start of the event. Please bring your own water bottle and a pillow, blanket or yoga mat to create a little oasis of relaxation for yourself.

About the hosts:
Anna Thu Schmidt is a dance artist with a passion for interdisciplinary projects, site-specific performances, and integrated dance, now based in Trondheim after living in Germany, the Netherlands, and Indonesia. She leads ImproDans Trondheim and Contemporary Dance for Adults, offering workshops in contact improvisation and running PRAXIS Trondheim for artistic movement practices together with other dance artists. Anna was introduced to Ecstatic Dance in Bali and shares the spirit and joy of this freeform movement journey at various venues in Trondheim collaborating with several DJs since 2013.
Dag Olav Kolltveit is a visual artist and DJ with a background in breakdance. He graduated from the art academy in Trondheim in 2024 where he wrote his master's thesis on rhythm. Dag Olav has always loved music and explores a wide variety of music styles. This will be his first time DJing at ecstatic dance and he's very much looking forward to it.
