Age limit 18 years or with guardian Bremer/McCoy are back at Folken! With their distinctive blend of spiritual jazz, hymns, folk songs, dub, and Scandinavian melancholy, pianist Morten McCoy and bassist Jonathan Bremer have created their own musical universe since their debut album Enhed in 2013. Through six albums, the duo has built a large international audience – and a rare ability to reach listeners on a deep, wordless level.
Live, Bremer/McCoy is a very special experience. With double bass, piano, organ, and tape recorders, they create an intimate and meditative atmosphere where every tone is allowed to breathe. The music arises in the moment as stories they improvise together.
Their newest album Kosmos explores precisely this state: a musical space marked by presence, freedom, and connection. Here, compositions that have matured over many years meet spontaneous moments created in minutes. The result is a quiet but powerful expression of the duo’s artistic vision.
“When we play or listen together, we communicate without words. In a time where much divides us, it is important to remember this sense of community,” says Morten McCoy.
Improvisation is the core of Bremer/McCoy’s compositions. They play pieces that arise in real time. Without a fixed plan, but with full presence, they let the music lead the way. “Only when you let go of the ego do you make room for what is actually meant to happen. That is what we call ultimate freedom,” says Jonathan Bremer.
Bremer/McCoy have previously played two inspired and beautiful concerts at Folken. You do not want to miss this.
