Chamber music concert with musicians from the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra.
The Opera's first afternoon concert of the year presents one of the most famous works ever composed for string quartet, Antonin Dvořák’s “American”. Dvořák composed the string quartet in America, directly after completing his Symphony no. 9, From the New World. Bright tones and optimism can be found in abundance in this masterpiece of rhythm, form and structure.
The concert’s second part features a work by Hungarian Ernő Dohnányi. He composed his sextet Opus 37 in 1935, which with its unusual combination of piano, violin, viola, cello, clarinet and horn was also his last piece of chamber music.
