Exhibition: Power to the Bees

Overview

The lives of bees and honey production have fascinated man through history. Also artists have been inspired by the aesthetics and functionality of the hive, and symbolism and myths related to honey. This is the starting point for the initiative for the summer exhibition at Hå old vicarage in 2017 with the international exhibition project POWER TO THE BEES that deals with bees, nature, art and society. With the exhibition, the gallery wishes to give the audience an experience and new insight into current social issues through the artist's eyes. Eight artists are invited to participate in the exhibition project. These are artists who in their own way work with bees, honey and wax. The artists are Sabino Guisu (MX), Ren Ri (China), Louis Maisai (US) Stanislaw Brach (PL), Sarah Hatton (CAN), Terrence Koh (USA), Ann Kristine Aanonsen (NO) and Sidsel Hanum (NO). Together with partners, the gallery shows an environment-related and cultural-historical part of the exhibition that draws attention to the theme the artists are working on.
